This in another great composite graphic by Contemporary Issues and Geography that offers a good overview of the makeup of America’s air arms. They recently released a US Navy version, so let’s hope for a USAF, Army and Coast Guard version soon. Even more challenging would be one depicting Russia’s and China’s always hard to pin down inventory and force structure!

God, the Marines’ ability to keep old equipment operating never ceases to amaze me. C-9s? Really? Next thing I know, you’ll tell me they’ve dusted off some C-141s they hid in some abandoned hangar in North Carolina. Between them, the VH-3s, the T-34s, the few remaining CH-46s, and the F-5s, you could hold an entire vintage air show with nothing but operational Marine aircraft.
