Illustration for article titled Russian Playgrounds Have Tanks In Them

Here's a strong candidate for Most Russian Thing Ever.

English Russia reports that this playground is in the city of Tomsk, in Siberia (head east from Omsk, hook a left after you pass Novosibirsk and you're there). The tank isn't really a tank so much as a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, but that distinction is secondary to the fact that it's a tank and kids get to play on it and it's awesome mommy let me play on the tank some more can I just have five more minutes on the tank.

This is far from the only tank-in-playground situation in Russia.

Moreover, this sort of thing isn't endemic to Post-Soviet states. We Americans have a Sherman tank sitting in a park of General Patton's not-quite-hometown of Hamilton, MA.
